Website Support

Our new website has been active for some time now and is getting great feedback.

We don’t spend a lot of time on the upkeep of the site but we’d like to have additional people set up to help maintain the website and Facebook.

Let us know through the Volunteer Form if you are interested in being part of the website support team.

You don’t need experience because I can teach you what you need to know. If you have experience then you can probably teach me!

Everyone is Welcome

From our President, Alan Johnston

We will have a very important and strategic meeting on MONDAY, MARCH 31 at 5:45 pm at the Rib & Loin Restaurant on Brainerd Road.  As the Alumni year 2024-2025 is winding down we have several very important items to discuss.

Our AGENDA will include the following:

Election of Officers for 2025 – 2026

This has to be reported to NAA in a couple of weeks.  We have the NOMINATING COMMITTEE consisting of  Steve Reno, Tyde McIntosh and Mona Allday preparing a report for us.  Key offices to be filled include:  President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Scholarship Chair, Membership Chair, Fundraising Chair (primarily golf), and several at-large Executive Board/Committee positions.

5946 Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421

Monday, March 31st @ Rib & Loin at 5:45 p.m.

Report from the Football Watch Party committee

In the February 10th meeting I appointed a committee consisting of Karl and Tracy Sodergren, Bill Gotchall, and Jill Greblick to provide us with a recommendation for our 2025 football season tailgate parties.  We suspended the last three games last season due to very poor attendance.

Report on the “Spring dinner”

      Alan will update the status

Financial report

Since we are rapidly approaching the close-out for this year (July 1, 2024-June 30, 2025) a part of our conversation will focus on the amount of funds we expect to have available to donate to our Endowed scholarship accounts.  REMINDER…. going forward after June 30, 2025 any newly established endowments will have to reach a $50,000 balance before receiving NAA matching contributions.  Note, that will not impact our existing accounts.

Scholarship report

Some reorganization at NAA has, as would be expected, created an extra bump here and there.  Lara and her committee are always working to ensure we maximize opportunities.

Event reports

Golf Tournament – Send off Party ??? – New student recruiting – “Spring Dinner” – Million Dollar Band visit 2026 –

Membership

Dues paying season is rapidly approaching !!!   Bob is working to re-establish our Pay-pal account (the version we had was linked to some of Jack’s information and has now expired)  A major hurdle for membership continues to be enlisting younger generations

Social Media

We learned many things during the campaign leading up to the November 2024 Presidential election, not the least of which is the incredible impact of social media.   Donald Trump’s campaign used many platforms to get out their message and turn that message into votes.  The old methods worked – but the old methods lost an election because the ever growing digital space reached more people, especially young people.  Surely, we can ramp up our presence in the digital space, thereby gaining more followers and eventually new members.  Bring your best ideas!

E-mail account

As a carry-over the social media discussion, we also lost our email account because it was attached to Jack’s personal account.  Bob has accepted the challenge to remedy this issue.

Administrative

      1.  We have been able to determine that our State of Tennessee sales tax exemption status is intact.  It will have to be renewed in September 2028

      2.  The annual filing of the Tennessee Corporation For (Secretary of State) has been filed for 2024 and will have to be filed each subsequent year before April 1 of each year.

Please make plans to attend…..as you see we have several important matters that require a vote…..as always, meetings are open to any club members – so, if you know someone not on this mailing list, feel free to forward it to them with an invitation to attend on March 31.

Alan
