Important letter from the President
Greetings Alumni & Friends,
We have all lost a great friend and loyal supporter of the University of Alabama with the passing of Jack Danner. Jack was the consistent face of our Chattanooga Chapter for many, many years. During those years Jack served as club treasurer and was our point person for “all things financial.” Please continue to keep his wife Lucy and their wonderful family in your prayers.
Jack’s death leaves us with the need to have someone “step-up” and assume the role of Chapter treasurer. If you, or someone you know, would be interested in serving in that critical role please let me or one of our current Chapter board members know. We will provide the next treasurer with training and support in learning and executing the various functions of treasurer.
If you are interested, or have an idea about the position, please let us know.
Thank you, and Roll Tide!
Alan Johnston, President
University of Alabama Alumni Association
You can also contact us through the Contact Us page.
Other current board members include: Bob Brazeal, Steve Reno, Wendy Reno, Mona Allday, Tyde McIntosh, Lara McIntosh, Bill Gotchall, Karl Sodergren, Dee Dee Womack
We've recently had a few people ask if there was a way that they could donate to the club. We have added options on the Scholarships Page.
If you wish to donate to a specific scholarship fund, we recommend you use the links to donate directly through the National Alumni Association site.
If you would rather donate directly to the club, there are two options given. All donations directly to the club will go to the Chattanooga Chapter Endowed Scholarship fund.
We have lost three friends recently.
Jack Danner was a long time member and treasurer with the Chattanooga Chapter and a treasured friend.
Betty Johnson was a long time member, well known by many in the Chattanooga Chapter.
Calvin Brown was also known by many in the chapter. Calvin was an important part of the National Alumni Association organization.
All of them will be greatly missed
Our new website has been active for about 2 months now. It has been well received.
There isn't a lot of work associated with the upkeep but we'd like to have more than one person set up to maintain the website and Facebook.
If you'd be interested in being part of the website support team, let us know through the Volunteer Form.
You don't need experience; I can teach you what you need to know. If you have experience, you can probably teach me!
It hasn’t been decided if we will have an “official” watch party for the SEC Championship game on Dec 2, 4:00 PM Kickoff. I’m going to be out of town and not sure if anyone else will be available to host.
However, the Auburn watch party at El Meson in Hixson was well attended and a lot of fun! I wasn’t sure about a Mexican Restaurant at first but it is clearly a Sports Bar, too. Lots of Alabama fans regularly gather there so even if we don’t have an official watch party, I encourage you to check it out. You will likely have plenty of other Alabama fans there with you.
